Types of Wood
We purchase select timber to manufacture our
wood baskets. We mainly use softer hardwood species such as: Gum, Cottonwood, Sycamore, Hackberry, and Elm. Each of these species has its own unique characteristics and places in our manufacturing process.

We only select mature hardwoods and do not condone clear cutting practices. The Swann Family, owners and operators of LRC for years, actually owns some timberland which is occasionally harvested for use in our products. Their timberland is a prime example of our effort to only select harvest the timber that goes into our product as well as our effort to maintain a balance between long term timber management and wildlife habitat. We have ethical timber management practices and we also do not introduce any chemicals into the wood during the manufacturing process. Our
wooden baskets are biodegradable and eco-friendly. After all they are made from one of our most substantial and renewable natural resources...wood.
Wood has always been used for packaging fruits and vegetables, and it is the most versatile, protective packaging available today. Wood dissipates heat in the packaged product, ices well and maintains strength even when wet.
Natural, biodegradable, reusable... the perfect packaging solution!
